Bill,I just tore down my 502 and noticed a
couple of things of concern. One was there seemed to be a lot of oil on the head gaskets
Wondering what could be the cause? For the other i noticed some wear on the rollers where they fit into their bores and was wondering if this is normal wear? Thanks,
Driver, Another question i was going to ask
was if i have the speed shop install bigger
vavles in my heads will i run into problems
with them hitting the block.Would it call for some block work as well?

I'm sorry, BillK has decided not to give any more free help.....just kidding http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif The oil on the head gaskets is probably normal, hard to say without looking at them. I have also seen it on motors with no other problems. As far as the lifter wear goes...you will see some wear even after 20min of running time, so I would not be too concerned. As far as the bigger valves hitting the block, I doubt it, but you might have piston to valve problems. Make sure you really need the bigger valves, bigger is not always better.

Thanks as always! It's a plus knowing you
can get info when needed. Can't beat this
Team Chevelle site. The top of the pistons
were wet from oil.I had a couple of car guys
take a look at the motor and they seem to think when getting the heads ported have
them also check to see how true the heads
are.During tear down i notice the head bolts
not as tight as i thought they would be.I
think im ok.Thanks,Driver
