: Where to Get Hog Rings
BlueSS454 Jan 4th, 09, 5:16 PM Anyone know of a local store you can get hog rings at? I need 6-10 more to finish up a seat I been working on and I can't seem to find them anywhere. I've looked at NAPA, Autozone, Advance, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. and keep coming up empty handed. I know I can order them from Eastwood, but I'd really rather just get them local so I don't have to keep waiting.
BillsCamino Jan 4th, 09, 5:20 PM Tom,
If no success finding them locally, I've got quite a few extras. PM me your address and I'll get 'em right out to 'ya.
Probably have them Wed...
Or, I'm sure East Coast Chevelles would carry them.
BlueSS454 Jan 4th, 09, 5:22 PM PM Sent, Thanks Bill!!
BillK Jan 4th, 09, 5:33 PM Tom,
Have you checked with any local upholstery places ? That would have been my first stop.
thehornworks Jan 4th, 09, 5:59 PM I got some at my local ace hardware, they were a little different but worked. Or reuse a few old ones to finish. gary
BlueSS454 Jan 4th, 09, 6:42 PM I checked a few fabric and upholstery shops around here, but they didn't have anything for auto upholstery.
I can't use any of the old ones because they are totally rusted and most of them snapped.
Dave Birdwell Jan 4th, 09, 7:16 PM I did some searching, but apparently you have no farms around that area. I get my hogrings at Tractor Supply stores. According to their website, you don't have any out there.

davewho1 Jan 5th, 09, 6:46 AM OK, you guys have got me curious now. Why would a tractor supply store have hogrings?
Do farmers use 'em to repair fence or something?

No but they do have a lot of seats that get abused!

Most of the Post Offices, at least in this area, have machines in the lobby that weigh packages and print mailing labels along with an attached container to mail your package. These machines also sell stamps.
Open 24/7.
I keep a variety of USPS Priority boxes here at home which the Post Office will supply free of charge and can be ordered online.

Tom,I own a furniture re-upholstery shop here in Baltimore.Any local upholsterer has them in his shop.We buy them by the pound, they are very cheap. These are used in 80% of furniture that is redone. You can also look in the yellow pages under "Upholstery Supplies" for a local distrubutor,if you can't find an upholsterer to help you...Bob

City boys, sheesh.
Hog rings are put through a hog's nose to keep them from rooting under the fence. Hogs can do a lot of digging with their noses. The ring pulls on the tender tissue of the septum and makes their nose hurt when they root, so they stop doing it. Different sizes for different size hogs, small ones when they're piglets, larger ones when they grow up.

Speaking of that....I sent my cousin to get hog rings last summer. He went to a hardware store and they gave him actual hog rings to put on a hog's nose after he told them it was for an automobile seat. I opened the box and was like WTF is this.
Dave Birdwell Jan 5th, 09, 8:51 PM Like Bill says, they come in different sizes. They probably figured at the store that you were working on a Mopar, you needed extra-large ones... :D
BlueSS454 Jan 5th, 09, 9:34 PM Probably Dave, use 'em to hold the whole car together, LOL
