: 3 point seat belt interchange

I was planning on getting the 3pt seat belts by morris classic concepts, through summit, but that plan has changed. Up until very recently they listed 2 different sets, one with a GM logo ($279) and one without ($174). I just today checked their website, and the cheaper set is no longer listed. I called summit, summit called the mfg, and then summit calls me back. Both sets are no longer available, they've changed from plastic cased buckles to steel cased. Their new prices are $315 and $415.. I just can't justify that, since I was planning on getting the $175 dollar ones using a gift certificate.

Now, here is my question, I need seat belts up front either way. Are there any other companies that make bolt in belts for chevelles or are there any cars that can interchange with them, such as a 80's g-body or something? I don't mind doing some modifications to make them work, I just want to get rid of the shoulder buckle, that thing is a pain and also my lap retractors don't retract as it is.

I purchased the Morris Classic Concepts through Summit a month ago. A couple of days ago I got around to installing it.

The buckle assembly appeared too short for a bench seat. They would have worked if the seat was only used in the rear most position. For my wife the seat needs to be moved forward which puts the buckle under the seat back.

Upgrading to a taller wife was considered but would have been cost prohibitive so I emailed MCC with my concerns. Within 30 minutes of the email Billy Morris called me. Evidently bucket seats use a shorter bucket assembly than bench seats. Something that either wasn't in the Summit description or I just missed it. Billy asked me take a measurement of the length of belt I needed and then to email him that length. I emailed that length to MCC. Billy called me again verifying the new length. Within a few minutes I received an email with a FedEx tracking number and that the belts would be sent at no cost to me. In less than 90 minutes from when the problem was found a solution was in place.

Whether or not you choose MCC has you would be hard pressed to find customer service like that from other vendors.

If you are interested in the Morris system with the plastic buckles you might contact Billy direct at morrisclassic@bellsouth.net to see if those are still available even if Summit doesn't now show them as available. I do have Billy's phone number but I don't know if it is published or not.

I looked in there, but didn't see anything but racing belts.

Yeah, I forgot to mention, before I called summit today, I actually talked to what I presume is billys wife, asking if it would work if my bench seats. She told me that when I purchase them from summit they will have an alternate number for the belts with longer receptacles. It was right after that I logged in to summits website to see them not on there anymore, resulting to my previous post. I just can't justify paying that much money.

I did however find these belts and am thinking they might be what I need if I can't find anything else.

Those look similar to the Morris belts less the roof and floor mounting brackets.

I also forgot to ask... on bench seat, when I had it recovered, I forgot if there were slots going through it for the receptacle. Right now they just go around the back of the seat? If so, could somebody post a pic of the holes so I know where to make the slit?

Yes there are rectangular slots with plastic grommets in the seat just before the kick up at the back of the seat. The seat back is in the way for a picture. The slots are located above the mounting bolts.

Thanks. I just did some searching and found a few pics of where they go, I'll just cut a slit there.
