Rain Man

I've been around BB for awhile but this time I'm stumped. I put a K&N Xtreme filter air cleaner cover and most times it runs like the
motor is missing or running out of gas when I
go over 2500 RPM or so. I take the filter off
& it runs great. Mind you it doesn't happen all the time. I thought the choke on my Holley was sticking and then I thought it could be the ignition coil. It hasn't happened yet w/ the stock air cleaner lid &
I'm still thinking an ignition problem.
Any body out there had a similar experience?

Doe sthe K&N have a drop base holder? If so there may be some mechanical interference from that guy. but this would have to be all the time, but intermitant.
Perhaps is is a bad plug wire up on the distributor, and the K&N air cleaner contacts it in some way. --ok, maybe not. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
I can't see the cleaner swap causing this problem. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif

Hay Rain Man, what kind of carb? If it runs fine with out the air cleaner off and lousy with it on, I know where I would look.

Is that Extreme lid interfering with the carb bowl vents?
