And how many convertable 454 corvertables were made in 72?The 7th character of the VIN will be the number "1" and not a letter for a Canadian Chevelle. GM didn't break down engine vs. body style combinations. One could mathematically calculate the statistical possibility of 454 & convertible but it's not a true number of the combination.

* Z15 options sold - 24,946; of those about 4,065 went to Chevelles with LS5 engines.
* Convertibles were approx 1.85% of the 3 models that could have gotten the Z15 option (24,946 sport coupe, convertible, and sedan pickup), or 461 of the total 4,853 convertibles were statistically probable Z15 convertibles. (24,946 * 0.185 = 461.5)

* 4,065 of the 5,333 LS5 options went to Chevelles. (5333-1268 Monte Carlos reported by First Gen Monte Carlo (http://www.firstgenmc.com/tech/productionnumbers.shtml) site).
* 4,065 * 1.85% = 75 or so.

This differs a little bit from Dan Carr's poster but then the number of Monte Carlos with LS5 shown on the poster (1,406) is an extrapolated figure. His total is 70 convertibles with the LS5.

Still close enough for guesswork.
