I dont know what the correct term for it really is, but Im talking about the box under the dash that controls the heat/ blower motor. My car has heat, but no AC, and Im looking to just remove the whole unit. I have the whole dash out. I only saw a couple of screws holding the box on, and the rest look like plastic rivets. I did a search and in one of the threads it was mentioned that you have to take the pass. front wheel off? Any hints or tips?

Thanks,
Gray

You have to take the passenger front wheel off and a bunch of the bolts that hold your inner fender, but not all of them just enough to be able to get to the blower motor between the body of the car and the inner fender.
Have you tried to reach up inside your passenger side cowl pendulum hole where the air comes from and spin the motor while its on?

I think we first need to clear up one thing - I am reading your problem as "my car is equipped with a heater but is not equipped with air conditioning", as opposed to "my car is equipped with a heater and factory air conditioning, and the heat works but the air conditioner does not". Is that correct?

That huge box thing has studs that go thru the firewall. There are a whole bunch of speed nuts on the engine side of the firewall that you will have to remove to get the box (with studs attached) out from the interior side. As Brad has alluded to, you will need to be able to access many of the nuts by reaching your arm (really helps if you have long slender arms and you're double jointed :D ) up behind the inner fender and removing them.

My car has heat, and NO A/C. The only incoming air is from the windows or the vents.

"That huge box thing"... Is that an engineering term? l:)

I dont know about that whole long slender arm thing. Theres nothing about me that you could call long and slender..... well.. mabye. :D

Not yet. Sounds like a project for tomorrow though!
