I am looking at an axle that "came out of a '70 Chevelle". All of this info is given to me over the phone from the seller, so I can't 100% confirm any of it.

I am told that it came out of a '70 Chevelle and it has a 12 bolt cover. So I don't know if it is a Chevy 12 bolt or the BOP that only has 12 bolts on the cover. The stamping on the axle tube is KLC0602. And I was told that the stamping was fairly easy to read, if any on the letters were questionable it would be the L, it could be an I or something close.

I searched around and found nothing. I am just trying to get an idea if it is really a 12 bolt Chevy before I drive an hour to look at it.

Thanks in advance.

Get the casting number to find the right year ,then use the code ot see what it is/was.

I would get the seven digit casting number and compare it to the casting numbers listed on the "Chevellestuff" site before driving that far. If the casting number isn't listed it's not a Chevelle 12 bolt......don't forget to check all the different years. They used some "K" first letter axle tube codes on earlier housing so it might be an earlier housing which will work but might be "1" narrower.........
