First of all I sorry this is not Chevelle related but I need some help. My 83 T/A won't start with the 4 wire plug plugged in which I disconnected to time the car. Runs fine unplugged but soon as you plug it won't even start. Is there a short somewhere?

I fixed the problem it was a grounding wire out of a wiring harness up front on top of the engine. If anyone has this problem in the future you should check your ground wires first.

Used to be a common problem. Unplugging the 4-wire connector put the computer in "limp home" mode. ****ty milage, but it ran.
Seems to me the usual cause was a toasted distributor module. It's been years since I've worked on one, though.
