I suspect he is talking about the Davy Jones who at age 15 was a race car driver in canada and drove in indy cars and 24 hours of Daytona and such. But since it is an 89 camaro, that Jones had been driving for 10 years, no way he learned to drive in that car.

It's an IROC that was probably ordered with RPO 1LE to go racing in the Production class of SCCA. It's not an I.R.O.C. series race car which were full blown race cars with Camaro bodies. No idea who Davey Jones is but it doesn't seem worth any more than a real tired production car.

Yes, probably raced in SSGT (showroom stock) in SCCA. Davey Jones is probably someone known only in those circles. When I sold GM parts back in the early 90's, I had a customer who had an 89 IROC with the 1LE package. The 1LE cars were basically TPI 305's with bigger brakes, better suspension, and A/C delete. My customer also raced his car is SCCA SSGT.

That is an old SCCA showroom stock GT car,possibly a 1LE delete. Davy Jones started his pro career in the old SCCA bosch super vee series in 1982 at age 18. He ran some firehawk races for i think Ray Korman around the mid late eighties,but never drove that car. Of course there are a lot of Davy Jones's..

There is some info on Davey Jones in Wikipedia. Looks like he ran in IROC in '92-'93.
