I have a early 64 Chevelle non power top, car is a Kansas City, serial 3861 and a 1964 power top, Baltimore car serial 24931. What I have run into is the non power top is almost without any rust of any kind and the power top has considerable amounts of rust on the sheet metal sections that fold up and fit over the windows and holds the weather stripping. I have the bare tops layed out side by side in my garage. Other that a couple minor areas, I can not see any reason why most parts would not interchange. Any ideas anyone? Anyone know how to check interchange ability between a power and non power top for this car and year?:beers:

You can not use a manual top frame with power top actuaters because the points where the top pivits are not the same. The power top works when pressure is applied at the rear of the frame and it pushes up and pulls down with ease. The manual top is designed to be pulled and pushed at the header bar. They are two differant geometries, with differant linkage. I have tried to inner change them with no success. Some parts are innerchangable, If your top frames are exact, maybe they are both manual, have you used the power top and see it work?

I have a 65 and changed to manual until I get my motor and cylinders repaired. everything works like normal for me. You just need the spring setup for the manual top to work. Spring setup bolts in where the cylinders/actuators were. Maybe 64 is different.
