I'm thinking about purchasing a 3/8" drive rechargeable cordless impact wrench and am wanting to know which voltage is best for occasional use in salvage yards. 12v, 14v, 18v or 24v

Seems by the pricing that the higher the voltage the price increases as well as the power output.

Thanks,

we have a 14.4 volt bosch impactor and it works just fine for all the stuff around here. we even took it to the junkyard a few times and it worked like a dream. only thing you really need to watch out for is those really rusted on bolts.

The snap-on 14.4 impacts are pretty impressive. I don't know about other brands or voltages.

s,
I got a Snap On 14.4 a few months ago. It is sweet :) I am not using it for real heavy duty work though, just running head bolts down before torqueing, torque plate bolts on the hone etc.

The new snap on 3/8 14.4 is better than most (for power) other brands 1/2 models

I've got a Snap-on 1/2" 18volt that will bust nuts loose that my 250lb pneumatic won't...

I have a Bosch 36 volt. Everything else seems like a toy after using that.

I have a snap-on 9.6 impact and man do I love it. Battery failed, so I use the 12v battery from my snap-on drill, been doing that for about 5yrs.

The impact gun is now about 14yrs old - got my monies outta that!
