Back with another problem: While draining my oil to replace a pan gasket on my 454 I noticed the oil was kind of cloudy( I only had a 100 miles on the oil so I was expecting it to look like new and it should have). It wasn't milky like it had water in it, but is smells like gas. The kicker is I have an electric fuel pump so I have no idea how gas( if that is what it is) could get in the oil. If it is any help the car since the last oil change has been started and stoped numerous times for short period going in and out of the garge( like a couple of dozen). Thanks:

Your pressure may be too high and it's pushing past the needle and seats. How much pressure is your pump at? You do have a regulator don't you?

Each cold start will cause some gas past the rings and into the oil. Happens much more if it takes more than a pump or two for each start.

Also improper jetting fuel calibration & or improper retarded base ign timing with perf cam causing lower then normal idle /low speed vacuum signal to the carb .

Retarded base timing can cause the power valve or power enrichment circut to prematurly activate esp when throttle blades are just up & out of the idle circut with the motor still at low engine speed. That can result in an over rich mix esp if the improper p/vlave or power piston spring in in the carb for cam being run and the additional fuel can get by the rings into the crankcase thus contaminating the oil in the process.

Also,a stuck improperly adj choke, wrong float lvl adj ,bad-leaking flaod, bad or dirty needle & seat, too much fuel pressure are also things that can dump additional fuel into the crankcase.

Bad diaphram in a mech fuel pump can also leak fuel onto the crankcase.
