How do tell by looking at the alt if is internal or ext regulated?

How do tell by looking at the alt if is internal or ext regulated?

If you look at the back of the alternator where the big lug is to connect the (+) wire to...and you see 2 connections that look like this: | | then it's an externally regulated alternator.

If it has connectors that look like this __ __ than it is internally regulated and does not need an external voltage regulator.

Just checked and I have external, I will be having the new 454 installed in a week or two and I will be installing a new crome alt (internal) Are there any simple wiring diagram pics out there that show how this is done?

There are companies that make a kit to do this conversion and make it simple. Try Painless, American AutoWire or Haywire.
