Does anyone know which side of the coil that the wire goes to from the little resistor that mounts on the coil bracket ??? Is it the + or - side of the coil ?? Any help would be much appeciated.

First off, it's not a resistor. It's a capacitor and it's there to supress radio noise. It's pigtail lead connects to the (+) side of the coil.
