I have a 78 el camino with a 400 small block and the power steering belt keeps coming off at highway speeds. Ive tried a new belt, tightened to spec still came off....and then tightened past specifications...still came off. The only thing i havent tried is new pulleys...what could be cuasing this? oh ya....it really scares the **** outa me when it comes off and i really need to fix this

The pulleys must not be aligned correctly. Lay a yard stick in the pulley grooves and sight down it. That will let you see the alignment.

If thats not it try a deep groove pulley and a gatorback belt, hell, try the gatorback first even if pulleys are aligned. If not, score the deep groove pulley.
