I posted this over in performance also, just tryin' to get some answers... is it possible for a fuel pump to leak oil only under load? The reason I ask this is I just installed an edelbrock# 1722 on my 454 and it runs fine at idle, rev it up to 6k w/ no problems. As soon as I take the car out and put it under load the top of the fuel pump is covered w/ oil as well as everything rearward.... never had an oil leak until the swap. TIA

Yes, if the gasket was somehow damaged during installation. I've also seen some fuel pumps leak at the pivot pin.
