Before I get rid of it... Ive got a 67 hurst comp. + shifter from a gto bolted to a spare muncie. I also have a generic hurst comp + aftermarket shifter without the rods. So if I were to find a gto kind of person. could I just swap out the shifter and keep the shift rods and use it on the other aftermarket comp+? I dont need the original shifter, figure it would make great trading material and Id still have a hurst shifter when its done. jim

Should be able to. They do mount the same, don't they?
Anybody else?
Might check Hurst's site and look at the rod kits?

Why doesn't my new Hurst Competition Plus fit my OEM linkage? My car originally came with a Hurst Shifter.
Hurst originally supplied only the shifters to the big three - made to their specifications. Hurst did not supply the linkage. OEM linkage is frequently smaller in diameter and/or the shifter is mounted in a slightly different location, making the Hurst aftermarket shifters and linkage incompatible with OEM shifters, linkage and mounting plates.
Thanks pdq67, I went to the hurst site and looked under the FAQ and got the above quote. I guess Im stuck with the shifter and rods. jim
well the install kit can usually be had for 100 new or find a used setup cheaper than that... if you sold the gto setup i'll bet you'd still be ahead with some extra coin

I collect Hurst stuff and can tell you they made thousands of different parts to fit all the different combinations of car year, car model, trans type, interior (bench/bucket) etc
You need to post a picture to ID what you have
I like when you ask a swap meet guy what his Hurst is from and the guy tells you
" It will fit - their all the same" ......yeah right!
