I little while ago I installed a Edel. 750 and now it takes quite a few turns to start the car ONLY when cold. After that it starts right up. It seems that there isn't enough fuel in the bowls to start it. Although I do hear the carb squirting out when I manually throttle it....I then installed a heat shield thinking that the fuel was boiling over, but didn't help. Does my fuel line need to be adjusted in such an angle to keep some fuel in line? I have a glass fuel filter, and after a little while the thing empties back down and into the mech. fuel pump.
Any ideas?

Is there a choke on the carb?

Yes a manual choke but I don't use it. The problem is geared towards actually starting the car NOT keeping it alive.

The choke can help it start, it's not just for keeping it running after starting. I had a 750 edelbrock on a 454 in a truck with a manual choke. It reguired a bit of a technique to get it to start quickly when cold. Pump the gas 2-4 times, start off with FULL choke, crank only a few turns till it popped, like it was gonna run, and push in the choke just a tad. Next time you hit the key, wham, instant start.
Now I don't know why, but I've had several edelbrock carbs, 600's and 750's. They don't seem to like to cold start without the choke. My holley 4150 is not like this, I don't know why.
