My son in law just got off the phone, he bought a one ton 53 chev and he said the positive battery cable was hooked up to the negative post, anybody know what the deal is on this.

Its a 235 straight six.

Thanks in advance .

Nope, Chevrolet has been negative ground since at least 1937.

However,

The GMC with six-volt system uses a positive ground electrical system. Chevrolet uses negative ground.

This is a Chevelle culb site. Please do not ask questions about non Chevelle cars. I am tired of reading about other vechicles that do not report to a Chevrolet A body design. This site is not a ask any question about any GM product site.

It is perfectly OK for anyone to post non Chevelle questions.
I would suggest that if you don't want to read them, just don't click on those threads.

NOTE: If you discharge a 6-12 vt. car Batt. When it is stone dead you can reverse charge it. We use to do this and have fun with it by telling people this is a special car with a positive ground.
To start a reverse charge, Put jumpers from a good batt. to the reverse post for a few min. then it will tell the charger to start.
If you have never done this, DONT try it, Unless you know how to do it...........

http://www.chevelles.com/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif Priming Home Furnace
I changed my home heating oil filter today. Have always used a Furance guy to service it in the past. Do I need to prime it with heating oil or can I use diesel. I had the small vent screw off the top of the filter housing but the pump won't run long enough to start pumping. The relay will cut the motor off after about 20 seconds. I have restarted the motor about 5 times but still no oil in filter bowl. I had the vent hole loosely covered with a rag.

GM for the first time has lost their #1 rating of being the world largest manufacturer of auto and trucks. Toyota has taken the lead according to the last quarter figures.

Boba positive ground systrm doesnt use a special battery . in other words it doesnt charge the battery backwards. you do however have to hook the leads up reverse from normal and on the old generators you need to polarize the regulator for proper flow
