Indulge me for a bit......As i read about one of our members passing...
Peloose...i guess because i'm approaching 60...it always hits home how we aren't guaranteed another day on this earth..we have to live like we were dying, to borrow an old song...anyhow during this holiday season, i hope each of us will stop for a moment, take a deep breath, thank God for living in this great country we have, hug our wives and kids, tell our ageing parents how much we appreciate them for raising us right, and just generally being thankful for so much that a lot of us take for granted. It's refreshing to just get on this forum and ask questions, offer opinions, talk with other members, sort of like family, you know....Some of us are relatively new, while others have been here for a long time...still everyone seems welcomed...I truly believe car nuts, especially Chevelle nuts are some of the nicest, most helpful people of all.....Perhaps it's because we all have busted a knuckle or two, done something backward, stupid, or dangerous, and then find a better, easier or safer way to accomplish the task thru help from this forum.....let's remain helpful to the new folks and continue to make them feel a part of our family...I think this forum acts not only as an info center, but also a support group for people who have lost their jobs, spouses, kids.......that in itself may be the most important help of all. Didn't mean to ramble on....just wanted to wish each of you and your families Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Remember the reason for the season. May God be with each of you during your travels this Christmas.

Nice post Rick, well said.

It's weird for me. I have dealt with so much death in my family over the years I have built up a hard shell around the situation. Any time someone says.. "Did you hear so and so passed?" I usually just shrug and say.. wow, that's a shame, and don't think about it more than that. But when someone on TC passes, especially when it's a regular poster, it hits a little closer to home and makes me think a little bit more. I think you are correct when you say we are a family. Outside of the normal peeing contests, I have never seen an internet community with more mutual respect and genuine caring about everyone involved as I do here. It makes me proud to have a flag. Im a member of a very big family that does really care.

I had a tough loss last year about this time. I'm a new member, but you just got to believe Peloose would want his family and friends to be happy.
I keep reading... the more people I meet ,the more I like my dog...so after I meet more people...... I head down to the body shop and the old guys working on my 67 Malibu make feel like family, let me hang out help and learn.
I just want to say thanks and Merry xmas to the great people on this site for making me feel like family.

Godspeed Peloose

From the moment of conception the dying process has begun. It is a long process, longer for some than others. That is why we should take a page from the good book and live our lives one day at a time!
It took me well over 50 years to realize that! I feel a lot better now. I backslide once in a while but then remember there is only one today and no garantee of a tomorrow! So rejoce and be happy for it is today!:)

When I consider the value of the things that really matter, I am a very wealthy man. (I have to look at it that way as the other way is depressing :D )

Great post Rick, all the best to you and yours!

I havent been here for too long, but I can say that when I come on here I feel like family. Everyone is so eager to help and provide suggestions, sometimes more than a blood family member would. Rick, you couldnt have put it any better. Fellow TCers, I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a safe and wonderfull New Year. I hope that '09 treats us all better than '08 did.

It has been a tough year, no doubt. We have endured a lot of losses. I want to share this from the book of Romans, chapter 5. This verse brought me much comfort in the aftermath of our own loss.

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

When Paul wrote that in his letter to the Romans, he wasn't suggesting that we rejoice because we are suffering or rejoice in the midst of suffering, but rather, that we rejoice what awaits us at the end of the journey.

Peace to all of you, and Merry Christmas.

Your all good folks. But based on the thread title I honestly thought that this thread was going to have some wedding reception dance floor mishaps. I am both disappointed and pleasantly surprised, if thats possible.....

Merry Christmas all! and dont mind me, im happy to play the drunk uncle that clammers on about nonsense. You can put me outside at the christmas party, just dont take the liquor.

Sooo... Gary has to bring ME into this... "MINDLESS DRIVEL".... thanks Gary. :)

Seriously, I feel the same way - this is a season of family. Peloose' passing is a shock to all of us and I hope some good has come out of it. Maybe we will focus more on family and friends rather than ourselves. As stated before, regardless of political 'bent', different personalities and backgrounds, we all share the same interests in cars and family. (not in that order... I hope.)

My wife, Chris, and I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. Beaux, don't fall into the flowers.
