in a few weeks i will be buying the true coil springs and spring adjusters from speedway motors..

now.. which adjusters do i get?

do i go with these?

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/ADJUSTABLE-HIDDEN-SPRING-SHIM,3389.html

or these
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Adjustable-Hidden-Spring-Shim-Standard,7038.html

their magazine shows the first ones have a tall shoulder/collar, and the seconds ones are just that a flat washer thats adjustable.

which ones do you guys run? and will they clear the hotchkis shocks?

how about tubular control arms.. anyone try any of the ones that speedway offers? this is going on my 71.

for the front? if so, neither of those. you need the one that is about 3" taller. it looks the same except there is a piece of tubing on top and its threaded. as far as tubular ucas and lcas, id go with the stage II from sc&c which takes care of the upper control arms and ball joints. for the lower, run either the global west or speed techs. i have a set of the global west lca's for sale. never installed, and boxes are unopened. pm if interested.

I posted a pic of the spacer that you need in this thread:

for now, im staying with stock arms with new ball joints, and bushings, and lowers that will be boxed. i was just curious to other tubular's.

thanks

as a side note to get my low as I wanted I had to trim the tall part, later discovered I need to trim the inside tube as well after it rubbed a hole in my shock

just some tips, might not be an issue for you depending on how low you go and how your geometry is setup

my car isnt even really too low, just where the fender opening are about even with the top of the tires

i want the tire just to tuck. or close to it.

what shocks are you running?
do you have any pics of where it needed to be clearance? i will have to experiment with height and see what i like.

thanks.

I ended up with about 4-4.25" of height on the spacer, and did not trim at all. I imagine this will vary depending on what rate you choose.

Of course, I ditched the speedway adjusters and made my own for the varishocks.

thanks.
vari shocks are out of the budget. bilsteins will be run with 575/150 rate springs and then the appropriate sway bars.

how much lower would you say the total drop is with your set up matt?

thanks

Not sure on total drop. Given that my fender lip(s) are even with the tire(s), and my tire diameters are 26”F/27”R, you can measure 13”F/13.5”R from your hub center to fender lip as a guesstimate.

BTW, front LCA pivots are level, and about 4-5” engine crossmember clearance. Only 3” for header clearance. I have not bottomed or scraped at all yet. I use to bottom/scrape with stock suspension.

I run 750# springs, had KYB shocks but now stock replacements since I was too broke to order anything special.

I'm running a 14" wheel up front right now because I can't find a pair of 15x7 or 15x8 in that style that someone doesn't want an arm and leg for

the part I trimmed was the upper tube and the small threaded inner tube (only needed to be trimmed on the driver side though...my car has been wrecked before so things might be a little different than stock, even though it all looks good is aligned properly and I get even tire wear)
