Do you guys know of a sealant, glue, or other such goo that would help with this problem?
I have a fuel injected 65 Elky with a plastic fuel cell. I cut a hole in the side for a filler tube. I custom made a flange that bolts to the side of the tank. It has a steel tube that goes thru it in to the tank. The flange is secured with six bolts. On the inside a large plastic ring that came with the tank acts as a washer for the bolts.
The flange has a thick paper gasket under it on the outside of the tank. The tubing on the flange is a tight but not perfect fit thru the hole in the tank.
Is there a sealant I can use on the tube to stop fuel from leaking passed the gasket and flange?
This is the third configuration I've tried and I can't seem to get it to stop.
I know RTV does not work. That failed miserably. I have used JB metal weld in the tank for other purposes, it seems to hold up well to fuel, but does not stick to the tank material very well. How about Form-a-gasket "1"? Will this melt in fuel?
