I bought a 1967 Chevelle a couple of years ago and have experienced heavy front tire wear. The car has a small block and power steering. Just lately I've noticed that when pulling away from parallel parking or when turning a sharp radius the front tires appear to be pushed sideways as if they are being turned too far. It scrubs the outer edge of the tires off, more so when turning to the left (scrubbing the right tire) I recently took the car to the local Les Schwab store to have the front end aligned and there was an improvement as far tracking and general driving but the front end still seems to turn too far from lock to lock. I understand that the steering stops are built into the steering box. I'm wondering if a previous owner has tampered with the stops in some way? I have found no mechanical stops of any kind. Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks in advance!

Two things I would do first. Check closely under the car to see if the frame is bent in any way. Also check with a tape measure the diagonal distances from corner to corner. If those are O.K. then get your alignment checked again, but maybe at a dealer.
