I'm having a problem with gas leaks at the pump, (mechanical). the fittings seem to drip no matter what I've tried. Is there anything that can resist gas? Thanks

Try some Teflon tape.
Hopefully your fitting and the fitting hole in the pump are not worn too bad. Sometimes the hole in the pump gets cracked, like a small hair-line crack.

Where is it leaking? If it is leaking at a flare fitting you can try cleaning it out with steel wool or something, but make sure that you blow air through the line afterwards to clean it out. If that doesn't fix a flare style fitting leak you are going to need to make a new flare.
If regular pipe threads are leaking, try some teflon tape.
If neither works you are going to have to get a new fuel pump. I had an aftermarket fuel pump on my 283 and it leaked no matter what I did. I ended up replacing it with an AC Delco pump.

Mike is right. A flared fitting does not need any teflon tape etc - only clean undamaged flares. Putting tape on this type of fitting could cause a leak. Old flares on the line can fatigue and split, check that too.

Thanks to a tip I saw on TC, I stopped a leak at the fuel line to carb flare fitting on my car. The fuel line was an almost new repro L78 dual line for a Holley, so I didn't want to start hacking on that. What I did was put some Permatex Hi Perf thread sealer on the BACK of the tubing flare (not on the side that contacts the carb fitting)and a little on the threads of the nut. Worked like a charm. Note: I've had much better luck with the Permatex HIGH PERFORMANCE thread sealer (more expensive) than their cheaper stuff that says "with Teflon" on the label.
