How come people can put links to advertisements and ebay auctions for stranger's cars in this forum, but not links to their own cars?

With that policy, I am tempted to put a post in here saying "wow, this 72 sure looks nice, what do you think it'll go for?" As long as nobody figures out it's mine, I get great exposure.

Seems a little odd, is all I'm saying...

Ones a "for sale" ad, not allowed except in the classifieds.

The other one's a "heads-up" for someone else if they are looking for a car.

Or to put it another way -

One is self-serving, the other is a consideration for others benefit.

I think to come to the conclusion that strangers get treated better than members is quite a stretch - I think everyone, stranger or not, pretty much gets treated the same way.

Do you really want to subject your car to the witty criticism in this
forum? :D

Once you open that door, you will definitely learn more about your car.

Its pretty clear. At the top of the Forum the sticky says "Please do not post for sale/wanted ads". There is a For Sale / Wanted section for this. If you move all the for sale items to this forum it would be so cluttered that it would make it difficult to get an answer for someone interested in "checking" the facts, as it were, on a prospective purchase.

That said, I also see your point. You're wanting to sell your car and feel that no one looks in the For Sale area. Oddly enough, if one is looking for a Chevelle, that's where they look along with a quick eBay and Craig's list search.

Maybe an answer is to have a Forum that's nothing but links to For Sale items. But who knows how much that would help. It would require 'cleaning' up constantly due to bad links or items sold. Easier to do it the old fashioned way, search outside of this site and ease the server load.

^That pretty much covers it.^

You have two places to advertise your car, one in the members only classified forum and one in the FREE public classified section.

No such thing as bad press. Eyeballs are eyeballs. Oh well, my reserve is *almost* met, auction ends tomorrow. I think it's gonna sell. Thanks.
