I just finished my interior so this one really bites. The carpet in front of the passenger seat is damp. I pulled up the layer of insulation which had moisture droplets on it and there was a puddle of antifreeze on the floor. It looks dry under the dash, but I am suspecting the coolant carrying hoses that go in through the firewall. The car was originally equipped with AC and some of it is still there. Do I need to remove that and get in through the engine side or what? Any suggestions appreciated.

thanks,
Dan

Typical of a bad heater core...

Now the fun begins of replacing the heater core. The heater core is removed/replaced from the engine side after removing the heater box and fan cover after removing the inner fender and possibly outer fender, etc...

Best of luck,
Bill C.

I replaced mine in april, it took about 3 hours. This is my 3rd chevy i had to replace it in so i have some skills. You need to lower your passanger inter fender to the wheel and you should be able to get in there. you need to take all the nuts off the ac/heater blower box in order to free the inner core housing. I don't think you need to remove the bolts that hold the blower box on to the firewall just the nuts(the nuts are screwed on the inner assambly bolts coming threw the firewall). You may need to go threw your wheelwell to get to one nut that is virtually hidden. Next you need to remove the inner heater assambly. once the inner assembly is free, getting the core out of it can be tough. Good Luck!

ok.. sounds like replacing my heater core is the next step. Actually, every setting including off blows hot air so maybe I can fix that problem too.
