Guys

I have a 67 Chevelle, and I want to put on a set of upper and lower a arms, to go with my QA1 coilovers. I have a hard time spending $1000.00 plus for a set. What would be wrong with using a set from Afco, or UB Machine, the kind they use on dirt mods? They are cheap as heck, and I know they would need some re-work for coilover mounts, etc, but couldnt they be made to work? My buddy builds dirt mods, and doesnt see why they wouldnt work. I have the CCP front (and rear) disc brake setup. I really like the looks of the Global West arms, and I KNOW that they would make a great jig for another set :D. This car is not a pt, but just a weekend cruiser.

Thanks Guys

I've used AFCO's lower arms... I don't like the rod-end mounting. The rod ends will wear out in roughly 20k miles, and they aren't replaceable (welded on).

Derek

My fab buddy can easily replace the heims with bushings, will they work fine then? Did the straight orientation of the Afco arms interfere with the frame at all? Will the roundy round uppers work, or will the frame get hit from interference?

Thanks Derek, we are fairly close to each other, I am in Fargo.

The straight tubes do run pretty close to the frame on a lowered car. There's not enough room to run a bumpstop between them, but with my stiff springs I never heard or felt it make contact.

The fact is though, they do not change the geometry, so if you're going to do some fab work, I think reinforcing your stock lowers will get you better results for less.

For uppers, I highly recommend (as do a lot of people on this forum) SPC adjustable uppers from SC&C (www.scandc.com) They do require trimming the gusset on 68+ Chevelles, but it shouldn't be a problem with your '67.

I'm a long way from Fargo, I live near Rochester, just 12 miles from Iowa. :o

Thanks Derek, I didnt want to buy something that wouldnt work. Dont know what I will try yet, still making up my mind. My buddy can make all the suspension components, (he founded J Car, the Midwests premier Wissota Modified builder) but if I can buy something close, he can refine it. I would like something that looks good, and also performs well. I am very fussy about stuff, I guess. Stock uppers are not an option, but they work fine, just wanting to upgrade to something nicer.

I guess I didny know Dexter was so far south, thought it was just another burb of the Cities...............................
