I have a problem with my car starting. When i left for school in August, my car was running fine, but while i was gone, no one started my car for me. We had had a problem with varnished fuel before, so we dropped the tank cleaned the lines, and had the tank vatted. This time, we put some stable in the fuel before i left, and had a full tank of gas, however, the fuel in the line and in the filter varnished. I didn't know that noone started the car while i was gone, so when i did try and start it, it sucked all the varnished fuel into the carb and onto the cylinders, how do i get it out without having to pull the heads and the intake off the car? it's a 350 with a 2bbl carb. Thanks guys.

Well I would just clean out the carb and make sure nomore bad gas is in the lines or the tank and carb. Once you do that most of the problem would be solved. What is left in the cylinders will either evaporate or get pumped out the exhaust side anyway right. Crank it and should fire.

what I would do next time is fill the tank with high octane and the stabilizer and run the car long enough to let the new gas fill everything up. My car has been stored for up to a year in the past and fired fine when I came back to it, as long as the battery had juice of course

Thanks, i've already cleaned the carb and replaced the filter and the plugs. I pressurized the fuel line and blew back into the tank, then syphoned the tank and put fresh gas in it with some B12 chemtool fuel treater to try and dissolve some of the deposits of varnish that may be in the lines, and i tried to start it. However, i forgot to prime the fuel pump after i did all this, that might explain the problem of the car not firing at the moment. Tahnks for the help

Midnight, The last time I saw a carb full of brown gunk that look like varnish, Was because the young mans X-girl friend had put sugar in his gas tank. He had to replace the carb, flush the fuel system (Drop the tank) and buy a locking gas cap. She is still walking without a crutch and there seems to be no internal damage to his 396. Anything that could turn to varnish in the gas could turn to abrasive carbon when burned. I would clean as much of the old fuel out as I could.
I am sure this did not happen to you, But it did pop into my mind when I read your post.

Okay, here's the new problem. Replaced the plugs, cleaned out the old fuel from the line and replaced the filter. Primed the fuel pump and put fresh fuel in the filter, put a little clean fuel in the carb to try and start the car, wouldn't fire. I wasn't getting spark to the plugs, took me a little while to come to that conclusion, checked everything... finally realized that the points are fried, so once i replace those... i think it should fire right up and burn out all the bad junk. I love the way my car sounds when it runs... i'm anxious to get it running againg.
