I don't think my Cowl Induction is working the same as it was. It opens when you turn the car off like it is suppose to and closes when the car starts. It also opens when I stomp on it but it just seems to be working differently. It opens and closes real fast now. I'm positive that the flapper would open the more I accelerated and I could feather the flapper opening by just stepping on the gas a little more (half-throttle or more) but now it just opens all the way only. The vacumn line is connected and so is the the wire with power. Which brings up my next question, exactly what does the power to the diaphram suppose to do? Does it allow the flapper to open more as you accelerate more? Could my diaphram be going bad? Thanks for advice in advance.

I have always had to get on the throttle pretty hard to get my cowl door to open, and then it will gradually close. If your C.I. is hooked up correctly there is an inner door that is operated by a solenoid. It opens when you get on the gas enough to operate a switch behind the gas pedal.

Mine banged open and shut all the time when I first got my cowl inducted 70 454. I didnt know it was supposed to work differently. Then when I was cleaning things up under the hood I bought a shiny new vacuum check valve, and now it operates smoothly.

So I think your check valve might have just opened up on you.
