I want to start by saying hi new to the site. My eyes are burning from being on the computer for hours searching for the answer to my question, im looking to upgrade wheels on my car to give a more modern look.

I have a 71 Cutlass conv. all stock 37 yrs of sagging suspension with disc/drum.

Can anyone tell me if 17x8 with 4.75" of BS with a 255/45/17 Nitto (front) & 18x10 with 6" of BS with a 295/45/18 Nitto (rear) will fit on my Cutlass without rolling the lips, removing fender trim or using spacers.

Thanks Jeff

Jeff - I think that should be fine. The fronts are very similar to my combo and I have no rubbing - different year, but I think you have more room. I'd still put the rear on jack stands, take your current wheels off and get out a straight edge and tape measure. If your axle is not original or the car is not 100% square on the frame (very common) you will have an unpleasant surprise....

Yes, those wheels and tires should fit with no problems. I have 2 70 and 1 72 Cutlass and they have a huge fenderwell in the rear. I have 17x11's w/6" bs and 315-35's on the rear of my 72 and they fit in the fenderwell enough to lower the car! I have some 18x10 wheels w/6" bs and 295-35's and they even fit my 71 Monte with its low cut fenderwell and less room. The only problem I have had is when running a taller tire on the rear with a lot of wheel backspacing, I have rubbed my exhaust pipe where it is bent at the rear of the fenderwell. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Thanks for the help guys, does anybody else have any input?

Hey 69SS3964spd, do you have the 18x10 on the Monte Carlo? How low is your car & how bad does the tire rub the exhaust?

I went in the garage tonight and checked to see if I might have a clearance issue from the exhaust it will be tight on my car also im running 2 1/2" pipes.

My Monte exhaust does not rub and I have 3" on it! What I said before was when I ran a much taller and wide tire, like a 29-12.5-15 or the 295-45-18 mentioned above, the only clearance problem I had was with the exhaust, and that was on another car and it had room to move and clear with a trip to the exhaust shop!. I just wanted to make sure you checked this because most people seem to forget this when they are trying to fit a large tire in their fenderwell.
