This is a question for me, and my friend that has a 77 elky.

He wants an edelbrock intake, but keeping the stock cam... is that good? (he has a 305)

I also want an edelbrock intake, but i am not sure if i've got a modified cam.. (I was told that i do..) so my question is the same.. Edelbrock intake (RPM or Perf) on a stock cam. (Mine is a 350)

Shai - This might better fit in Performance but maybe this will get the thread moving.

It's always good to match components but putting an aftermarket dual-plain alum intake and carb is a common first step upgrade. It's a good way to get your feet wet working on the engine as well. Think about some small tube headers to go with it and you will realize a nice performance increase. If you have to do it in phases then I'd say #1 - Headers #2 - Intake and Carb #3 - Cam and lifter. 1 & 2 are really your choice...

Thanks for the reply Dennis.
I didn't know where you put this.. Maybe a mod. can move it for me?

about #1, i almost bought a pair.. I guess i will soon enough. about #2, i plan on getting an edelbrock intake, and i already have a new edelbrock 600CFM carb (1405)

So you say that i won't damage anything by changing intake only without cam and lifters? That's good news.
