I have a '69 Chevelle SS and currently have headers running to glasspacks. The pipes were rusty so I cut them right after the glass packs untill i get a new exhaust. Is it ok for me to run straight headers or when I drive it, would air flow enter through the headers and cause backflow? I have always heard that it isn't good to run straight headers unless feeding it out the sides or straight pipes. Thanks.

you should have some backpressure or else you could burn out the valves

Don't tell the drag racers that, they run open headers at the track all the time. No, problems with burnt valves. It will be extremely loud for any street driving.
