Sergio 69 SS396 Dec 15th, 08, 8:18 PM Here's a link to my 69 and a backdrop of my Chevelle and my Dad's new (in 1970) and different SS back in the day. What do you guys think?

Chris_69_SS Dec 15th, 08, 8:38 PM Very nice. Seen this a while back on another site or even here?
Is that shifter the original Muncie for a bucket seat car?
Like the color combo!

:yes: X2 but I am bias to Le Mans blue '69 Chevelles.:D Congratulations Sergio :beers: Nice old pic. of the orange L78 as well, very .
oldtimebaseballfan Dec 15th, 08, 10:04 PM Congrats Sergio. Both cars look great.
macs69 Dec 15th, 08, 10:57 PM Nice cars! Congrats!
Sergio 69 SS396 Dec 15th, 08, 11:57 PM Thanks guys!
And Chris, the shifter handle is correct for my car. My car is one of the rarer bucket seat/4 speeds without the console. Which I happen to like a little more, ha. And in finding the correct Muncie (not Hurst) shifter handle, I found they sell them by console and non-console cars. The non-console shifter is the same as the bench shifter. That's why it is curved more than the more upright console shifter. So basically I have the bench shifter because there are no different bucket/non-console shifter handles. And I modded the Muncie handle to a Hurst Comp + shifter which is awesome!

Good to know cause my car is also a non console 4 spped car, nevermind it being lemans blue with parchment interior!
Thanks,
Chris
plain 69 Dec 16th, 08, 7:40 PM Sergio you got a nice 69 there. I seen your old man's Orange 69 back in the day had white stripes with a black interior. That was probably an oddity. I am wanting the white stripes on my Monaco Orange 69 but I am still up in the air on the interior color Parchment or Black.
We need a link or page for old time pictures like your Dad's old picture.
john5469 Dec 16th, 08, 8:07 PM Some say I'm crazy, but I like your bucket seats without the console. Leaves more room for shifting, and cold liquid refreshments.

Actually the white RPO D96 stripe would be correct on paint code 72-72 '69 Chevelle SS.
It seems the black D96 stripe was only applied to black vinyl/convertible top models from the factory.
The interior color did not dictate stripe color, stripe color was dictated by exterior paint/roof (covering) color. http://www.chevellestuff.com/1969/exterior-interior.htm
sfsvettes Dec 17th, 08, 7:12 PM Really Cool ! Great story............
Sergio 69 SS396 Dec 19th, 08, 9:17 PM Thanks for all of the replies everyone! It's always nice to know your personal car stories are cool to other people :)
And I think we should start something for old timey pics! I have about 150 of my dad and his friends driving and racing everything from 57 Chevy's, to my dad's awesome 66 Impala SS427! He's had a ton of cool cars. He has a cool shot of him and cousin right after his cousin bought a brand new 69 Roadrunner 6pack with the black fiberglass hood! I'll try to post it soon. Anyone have ideas of how to do it? Maybe after we all get through the holidays.
And Larry, it's a tough call between Black and Parchment. I would say with the Orange color and white stripe, I'd go with black interior. You should definitely go with a bench 4speed though. Something different ya know. My dad's interior was a black, bench 4 speed. He says back in those days no one liked buckets because you couldn't make moves on chicks without the bench! Haha. Anyone else think that too?
