: Questions On Wiper Linkage & Grille Rivets

I have a few questions on the wiper transmission linkage and grille rivets on a 67 Chevelle.

1) Is the wiper transmission linkage a 2 piece or 3 piece? The one that was on the car looks to have 3 pieces (with one missing)-the one that connects the wiper hubs (not sure of correct name), another from the right hub back toward the motor (that has connection for a ball socket) and then the missing linkage that goes over to the wiper motor. My memory tells me that it should be one linkage connecting the hubs and a long linkage from the right hub to the wiper. Which is correct?

2) If the one I have is incorrect based on the above answer, who is reproducing these or where do you get a good wiper transmission linkage?

3) Now to the grille. The rivets that I got from AMK appear to be true rivets. How do you flare (for lack of a better term) these rivets? Is there a tool I need or what do I do here? Or do I need to get the aftermarket rivets that screw together?

Thanks
Larry

I did the post before you look here. If I have the wrong wiper transmission linkage, then I see our host among others have repo's. Would still like information on the rivets.

I havent tried anything with the actual rivets you speak of. Do they have a long shank like an actual pop rivet?

I know there is a place in Florida that sells a big package of rivets that have a nut on the back. Like 10 bucks but there is like 100 in the package. They are actually a rivet used for lockers.

Larry,
I peened my original style rivets with a small flat punch, took time and be sure to protect the opposite end as not to damage/kink/scrach.
Kinda a pain as you have the 2 suppport braces and the latch assy. between the filer panel & tie bar.
I then installed the grill, tiebar, filer panel as a whole unit.
IMHO The correct rivets look way better than popin in pop rivets or even the screw on style rivets .
But if you don't want the hassle just get some screw style original lookin rivets.
Late great chevys used to carry the screw style rivets.

Thanks you'll, I decided to order the screw in rivets today, as I don't want to have to put this together on or off the car and risk damaging the paint (the paint shop that painted it went out of business last week).

Thanks again
Larry
