I have a set of GM new hood springs with a part # of 03848272. Is this correct for a 69 chevelle,they seem really tight to latch on?Thanks

That's the correct part number. Have you tried oiling the rivet joints on your hinges? Do that and work the hood up and down slowly till your hinges loosen up.

If you have your old springs, make sure you compare them before trying to install them. I have seen NOS springs that are supposed to be correct, but the loop at the end isn't long enough and the spring will not attach to the hinge.

The spring you speak of is the repro springs that are sold by all the vendors. You can still buy the Original Springs from your GM dealer. All you need is the part number, and they can get it for you. I sell the GM springs to my customers, a dollar more per spring, than you can buy the repro for.
