: inner fenders again on 1972
daveid01 Dec 13th, 08, 9:52 PM OK, sorry again for another post on this, but I dont know if im doing this right or not. Does the inner fender tuck in to the outer fender? The outer fender has the ridge with all the bolt holes in it and I just need to know, do I put the inner fender on top of it ( tucked it, so the bolt goes throught the outer fender first) or do i put it under (so the bolt goes through the inner fender first)?
It looks like its suppose to be over the outer fender, but the bolts seem to lineup when its under.
Hope I make sense.
thanx

Dave Birdwell Dec 13th, 08, 9:58 PM The inner goes on the outside of the fender. The clip nuts go on the fender first, then the inner goes in, the hard part is getting the inner in the right place on the core support. It goes over the core support, then under the fender. Helps to take the tire off too.
Aftermarket fenderwells?
daveid01 Dec 14th, 08, 11:09 AM lol. yes! Now I know why it was so hard to get the inner fender above the outer fender.
I think this will be a lot easier now.
Thanks!

daveid01 Dec 15th, 08, 3:46 PM ok, One more question. How many of you have all the bolts in on these things? I have tried to get the front bolted up first, then do the rest and they dont line up. Ive tried to do the firewall bolts first, then the fronts dont line up. Ive tried to do a middle one, then the fronts dont line up again.
Any specific order, or do you guys not have all of the bolts in, like im beggining to think I might have to do.
thanx

In all likelihood, you'll have to do some creative drilling in order to install your attaching hardware. Best bet is to see how many existing holes you can line up before making new holes.
Dave Birdwell Dec 15th, 08, 7:52 PM I have them all in, but I have GM w/houses, and GM fenders. I still had to take a pin punch and pull some of the holes into alignment.
Chevelle_Nut Dec 15th, 08, 8:35 PM New fenders stink. I am picking my originals up from the media blaster tomorrow.
