: New Jersey Chevelle's: 2009 Cruise Day
Steven's 72 Dec 13th, 08, 7:39 PM Hey guys,
I am trying to plan a Cruise for us New Jersey Guys, Maybe we can call it our 1st Annual NJ Chevelle Cruise..
It won't be anything to long, maybe about 3 hour road trip round trip...
Meet in central NJ, and take a ride, stop for lunch and return.. If you are interested please let me know...
Also if you would like to recommend something along the traveled route, please let me know... (All Positive feedback is welcomed)
So far with the help of some of the members on the forum i have come up with two suggestions...
First Suggestion: So Far I am plotting something like from Central NJ.(East Brunswick Area) to Frenchtown then towards New Hope PA... Its roughly about 60 miles or so one way... Maybe I can find a nice lunch spot for us to stop in and then return..
Second Suggestion (Favoring This One) I am also looking at something like Central NJ (east Brunswick NJ) to the town of Batsto NJ about 76 miles one way..... This is another option..
Once again guys please let me know if you are interested and if you have another option please let me know...
I would like to have something planned for the month of June 2009...
Thanks in Advance:: Happy Wrenching during the winter months...
:beers:
rags70ss Dec 14th, 08, 11:33 PM Steve,
Car sounds great
I like option #2 I'm sure we could get some members from the Graden State Chevelles to join in the fun.
Steven's 72 Dec 15th, 08, 7:43 AM Hey Billy, Thanks for the reply.... I will start planning soon. I will actually take the ride myself and check out a couple of spots where we could stop for lunch..
MJRIBEIRO Dec 15th, 08, 4:33 PM Steve - I'm interested, although North/West of EB has nicer scenery IMO - going south to the Pine Barrens is just flat.... I grew up in the PB and it made for dull rides....
Steven's 72 Dec 15th, 08, 4:56 PM Hey Mike, Thanks for the input You are more then welcomed to make a suggestion. If you have any specific locations, give me a start and ending point and I will map it out and see if anyone else is interested. I am taking the time to get the particulars together but its not my cruise, its our cruise.. let me know....
Steven's 72 Dec 16th, 08, 5:55 PM For those who are interested going with the 2nd option, the ride would be something like this, if anyone is interested in anything along the way please let me know..
from central Jersey:
Rt 130 for 18 miles
RT 206 South for 18 miles
RT 30 South for 17 Miles.
Onto 542. There is a Stewarts Root beer we could check out if its open..
Or we could find another lunch spot..
Again I would be driving out myself to check out the route as we got closer to the date..
We could then either jump on the Turnpike back, route 9 or take the scenic roads back..
Again only in the planning stages please let me know if you are interested...
Thanks again.....
MJRIBEIRO Dec 17th, 08, 8:38 AM Steve - Have you ever traveled through Bucks County PA? (where New Hope is). Just over the NJ border there are 17 covered bridges within a relatively short distance. The one we'd usually hit first is actually the last one in NJ - Stewartsville - then we cross over at Washington's Crossing - hit a few bridges traveling North on the PA side, stop at New Hope for lunch and hit the rest.....It's a favorite among motorcyclists.....
No offense - but I used to travel 130 from rt 18 down to Cranbury - its not exactly a nice ride....

If your interested in a good lunch in Central/South Jersey I might be able to help you (depending on the day). http://www.jjoes.com/. A cruise along the Ocean is nice.
Thanx, Frank

MJRIBEIRO Dec 17th, 08, 9:52 PM Steve - I sent an email to your yahoo account - I had some old maps and directions we used to use on our bike runs....its been awhile since I did it - I always thought my wife would have enjoyed the route - she just doesn't like riding on the back of the bike.

czeto Dec 18th, 08, 6:15 PM Wow, something happening in central jersey and I'm still many months away from driving down the driveway. I'm usually in the parts buying mode during the winter but I may have to get out into the garage. Steve, keep up the enthusiasm.

Steven's 72 Dec 19th, 08, 5:04 PM Ok Guys, Mike also known as (MJRIBEIRO) On Team Chevelle has been very helpfull and supplied me with this map... It shows about 17 closed bridges within Bucks County Pa. (historical Bridges) some built in the 1800 Hundreds.
Minutes from French Town NJ. The bridges are pretty close together and I have mapped the route. It would take about 40 Miles to at Least hit 5 Bridges if not more including stopping by New Hope PA for some lunch. We could then jump back into Jersey or continue cruising the Immediate area..
Check it out and let me know what you think.. Maybe we could get a couple of PA guys to ride with us.
(JJoes) I did not forget about you. You are still an option for this ride or a second cruise if this one is a success.
Check out The Area The Bridges chosen would be the first five located on the upper right hand of the map located by French town NJ. Don't want anyone to get home sick, Just Kidding

Steven's 72 Jan 12th, 09, 6:04 PM Hey Carl Thanks for the Inquiry, I am looking at either the 13th, or 20th of June, and a meeting time of about 930 AM....
skryla Jan 12th, 09, 6:07 PM make sure it doesn't clash with the MD show.
How about a run up to the Delaware water gap? Cut over to the PA side.

GRN69CHV Jun 7th, 09, 8:57 AM Figures. I has this on my radar. Let me know if anything changes.
richr Jun 29th, 09, 10:55 PM Just caught this post - a little late but it's a nice idea. The best route would be the Frenchtown - New Hope Route. That area is incredible, great scenery, beautiful roads, plenty to see and do. The route on the Jersey side of the Delaware is also outstanding, Lambertville to Frenchtown. In fact it would be great to take the Jersey side from Lambertville to French Town, cross the bridge in Frenchtown and take 32 south through Upper Black Eddie to New Hope. The ride is breath taking at some points. I'd suggest a good meeting place would be in the Dayton area - around 130 by Friendship road. The ride from there to Lambertville is approx 40 minutes and as well a nice ride. From there we would go through towns as Rocky Hill, Princeton Junction and Hopewell. Plenty of antique shops and little places to stop.
The cruise from Lambertville through the Jersey side and back to New Hope on the PA side would take around an hour and a half. The spouses would love it as well.
Best time for the cruise would be Fall, leaves changing would make this trip exceptional. It's a nice cruise route but would have to be rain free, would need to pin point one good day with perhaps several rain days.
Although it would take me 40 minutes to Dayton I would be up for this. Is there still interest?? Perhaps we can make it happen.
