i have a 350 with h.e.i. when i got the truck the guy told me that the coil was bad...no prob, i just put a coil and cap that i had in the garage on it (a good one, of course)the engine ran for about an hour, it ran rough(tune-up i figure)then died. i checked for fuel and check connections (i.e. alternator)and everything looks good...then i checked for spark-none. any suggestions or help would greatly appreciated...this is the motor going in my 66 elky!!

update-checked for power at the coil wire (the heavy guage wire that runs to the "bat" terminal) and there is no power...any suggestions?

Is it possible that your wire is a fusible link? Not sure if HEI systems use it or not.
