My 70 chevelle 454 is in the process of getting finished(engine wise)
the question now is, where to put the tailpipes
i have 3 options:
1. before the axle
2. on the side after the rear wheels
3. all the way back
any ideas??
pics would be nice
thanks:confused:

Jorge, for me the tailpipes on a 70 belong out the rear of the car.

do #3, it will make it much quieter in the car, loud noise from rear bumper rearward.
#1=bad; unless you want noise all 360*around the car & inside too ..

All the way out the rear.
My 70 is not an SS, so I didn't install SS style tips. But it does have a FULL 2 1/2in system which I had made the same as a stock system and had the ends of the tailpipes turned down as seen below.

Jorge, out the back, looks and sounds the best.

Straight out the back. Don't turn them down. Turning them down pi$$es people off at car shows. They kick up dirt, dust and debris.

Flow makes a nice set of 2.5" mandrel bent TP's (just got em for my '70).....out the back is classier ;)

Out the back and turned down is the best combination. It keeps exhaust gases out of the car, reduces drone inside the car and sounds great from the outside (especially at car shows ;) ).
