I thought the my 700R4 was slipping and had it disassembled for inspection. Builder says no internal evidence of slippage. Converter is now a suspect, ..but this thought just crossed my mind.

Could a bad Eaton posi cause a slipping sensation, normally associated with a slipping clutches in an automatic transmission? When driving and playing with the throttle, there is apparent slippage, which seems to "catch up" when off the gas. I've been in the waterbox with slicks, a few times recently. Since vehicle is currently trans-less, I cannot compare rubber pattern after a small burnout. Car had been hooking and going straight. Last run was my best to date. I'll try the torque wrench test later today and find out how many foot pounds is takes to get this Eaton to slip. Could this 12 bolt be the actual problem.? Appreciate all input. Thanks

Even if the posi were worn or loose, it would still function like an open rear end. The only "slipping" would be one wheel spinning instead of two. In normal driving when the rear tires aren't spinning, you'd notice no difference at all.

Keep focusing on your transmission.
