Have a 68 SS396 ElCamino. I'm putting the original "factory" power steering setup (external cannister type) back on the car. I purchased a new belt which is an inch too short. An inch longer belt rubs against the top edge of the power steering unit. The crank pulley is roughly 6 1/2 inch in diameter. Did Chevrolet use different size pulleys on the power steering pump or is there a smaller pully I should be using on the crank to make the short belt fit and clear the power steering unit?

I see in Year One they list a crank pulley that is 6 3/4 for almost all the BB motors.
I went out and measured mine and it is 6 3/4 also.

How long is the belt you have?
