rkbo Apr 14th, 02, 9:09 PM I had a problem similar. I check everything. I even took the gas tank off to see if some debris was covering the intake. It was clean. I blew air throught the lines. No blockage. I finaly put new 3/8 steel line from tank to fuel pump. I think I must have had a very small pinhole in the line and it would suck air and pump would loose prime. At any rate it is cured and that maybe what you need to do.....Just my story, yours maybe just a low float that need adjusted.
Old Longboarder Apr 15th, 02, 9:28 AM Fuel filter plugged up.
427L88 Apr 15th, 02, 11:49 AM And if its not that, it might be the infamous "sock" on the pickup in the tank. But do check float level and fuel pressure.
SS_Dave Apr 15th, 02, 12:19 PM Float level is too low.
chevelleracer Apr 15th, 02, 12:27 PM if your running an electric pump the problum could be that the G force is stronger then the suction of the pum since eletric pumps are pushers not pullers. youll need to mount the pump lower or sump the tank. or go to a large macanical pump .

Randy Mosier Apr 15th, 02, 8:02 PM This sounds like a case of a weak stock pump. Start by replacing the fuel filter and checking your fuel pressure, and be sure to observe the needle of the pressure gage to make it's not pulsating. Fuel pressure should be in the 4 to 7 psi range, and the needle should be steady.
After that, you need to do an inspection of all the rubber hoses in the system. You have one that connects from the frame line to the fuel pump inlet, and there two or three back by the tank directly over the rear axle housing.
If they're all in good shape, move on to the float levels and make sure they're where they need to be, and then you should pull the sending unit assy and replace the sock.
tireburner396 Apr 15th, 02, 10:12 PM I had that problem once, It only happened when it was hot, and I believe it was vapor lock. Does it only happen when it's hot?
