: Buyer beware

I bought parchment bucket seat back kit for my 69 chevelle from SS396.Com. They were way off in color. If GM ever made a yellow interior they would have matched well. The seat button holes were drilled way off center and do not fit worth a damn. I sent them a message and never received a call or reply back. So beware if you are in the market for a set of parchment seat backs from SS396.Com.

Were they PUI? If they were, there is a PUI rep that responds to posts on Team Chevelle.

A phone call might have solved your problem faster than sending them a email. I will call first and follow up with a email. GU is great to work with and will stand by their products. Also if the parchment interior you got might be for the wrong year for what ever reason.
What is the part # on your interior box???
If its the correct stuff send an email out to Ron@pui.cc he is with PUI and I am sure he can solve the problem.
More facts before you slam the poor place you got your products from.

I would try to call them first. They seem very reasonable. Errors happen,( always seems to be at the worst possible times) it's how the mistakes are handled is what matters to me..I have done ton's of business with them, being that i can drive there in about an hr.I have always been happy but again i see everything before i buy it also.Call the main number and talk to them..

good rule of thumb don't use repro parts if you can help it .

Not sure what actually happened to you but more times than not if you want a totally matching interior color other than black the plastic pieces have to be sprayed together out of the same mix. It is the price you pay to go with a color other than black but with what I have seen some guys doing lately it is worth the effort.

Ground up is a repackager. When I ordered a pearl interior kit for my '70 the black components came from GU stock and the pearl parts where drop shipped from PUI. It's possible your order was handled in a similar manner.

In dealing with other companies I have had a poor satisfaction/problem resolution through email and closer to 100% through phone conversations.

On small items I used GU's online ordering. On large items such an interior kit I phone order. Online ordering has limited information. Phone ordering allows the customer to ask questions and be answered in detail. I did ask about fitment and color concerns. Mine came correct (as expected) so I didn't have to see if they would stand by their 'we will make it right' statement.

Having said all that I would use PUI contact information listed above and make phone contact for your problem resolution.

Hey Dan, as for the holes being drilled off center for the seat back buttons you probably just recieved a bad set. As for the color issue, as Bunz T says above, you'll need to take a piece of your vinyl to a local paint store and have the color matched and mixed in a vinyl elastomeric dye. I used a quart of SEM vinyl elastomeric dye to do my interior, it's very easy to do and very durable. It's a little pricey at 65. a quart, but it works great. It's the only way you'll get your interior to look right. If you need any help once you get to the dying part PM me and I'll give you the easiest way to do it. Here's a picture of my seat bottom that I had them use to match the color, I reshot the head rests and console and the color is dead on.
