Lately when I start my car (68 with a crate 454) it sounds like a major grind. Like when you turn the key and the caris already running!!!!!! The starter is an AC delco replacement only a year old! How can I tell if the flywheel is missing a tooth?

Take dust cover off front of tranny and check it. Your starter needs to be shimmed deeper into flywheel.

check the Starter Shimming link HERE! (http://links.chevelles.net/links/WorkShop/General_Info/) It will help you get the adjustment right. Shims are available at most parts stores.

Are you north or south of montauk highway?
