Derek69SS Dec 8th, 08, 5:56 PM I'm glad we're getting snow instead of the freezing rain.

All of you who are worried feel free to ship your cars to me, and I'll take good care of them for you this winter. No fear of ice or snow, and I'll even drive them once in a while to make sure they stay fresh.
quikss Dec 8th, 08, 7:10 PM Told you I was done with the outside bike riding for the year Andy. This one is expected to bring 12-16 inches of that crap.
Jeff

I just got my clipless pedals and shoes set up, and my nice warm cycling pants came in today. Hat and gloves, then I'm set.
I sure do miss the great big piles of white stuff, especially shovelling the driveway again after the snowplow goes by :noway:
grandsport Dec 8th, 08, 7:33 PM snow sucks.
Peloose Dec 8th, 08, 7:35 PM snow sucks.
Not in the auto body business, that there is White Gold.
grandsport Dec 8th, 08, 7:38 PM You're right there.I wouldn't mind snow as much if it was 85 degrees.
PaPa Johns 77 Dec 8th, 08, 7:39 PM They are not putting as much salt down because of the high costs. That is a plus for those worried about rust but a nightmare for drivers used to clear roadways! They are not salting anything but major roads, no side streets.
The county south of us quit using salt a year and a half ago!
Dave Birdwell Dec 8th, 08, 8:17 PM We're right on the eastern end of this one....not much happening here.

Hi Jan, my son was born in Margate, my sister lived in Tamarac, and I'm from Oakland Park!
I miss S Fl. in the winter. However, I really don't miss most of the a-holes.
animal69 Dec 9th, 08, 12:41 PM It's snowing an inch an hour here and I just got back from plowing. I hope I don't have to go out until tomorrow. 5 days straight and I'm running out of places to push the snow. Last year I didn't put the plow on until Dec 12th. We've gotten about 2' of the white crap so far and no end in sight. At least I'm making money for my toys.:hurray:

The local news is saying 8 to 12'', my neighbors outside shoveling right now, he says 11 to 12''.
Its still snowing and blowing right now, but it looks like within 2 hours it will be done, other then a skiff of it might show up, but the major storm will be out of here.

Didn't get much at all here (as of this a.m.) Maybe 2-3? Drive to work was a bit slow but not bad at all
rubadub Dec 9th, 08, 1:26 PM Heres a little snowblower information on what I did.
I bought a Troy built 10hp ten years ago, 26'' cut, never broke down, started to vibrate last winter, so I figured its time to get a new one.
Sold it and bought a Toro 8hp 26'' cut.
Last week used it for the first time, it has a different type of differential, you can't turn it with out musceling it around, and I have to make a lot of turns, a real bear to use.
So I traded it in and got another Toro, 10hp 28'' cut with a trigger on the handle bars to unlock the differential under power.
I got it yesterday afternoon, so i'll be using it for the first time today.
I run it around the driveway yesterday, and its a sweetheart, it will turn with no effort, its like night day from the other one.
So if any of you are buying a snowblower, if your doing straight line work you should be okay with what I had, but if your turning, watch what your buying, the troy built was easy to turn, thats the way the differential is.
I joke around a lot about the snow, but I couldn't sleep very good, kept waking up, like a kid in school hopeing the bad weather would shut it down for the day.
I really love the snow storms, I like to snowblow, hard to believe, but its a fun time that I really enjoy.
I'll do the some of the neighbors if they haven't all ready, I'm pretty stoked right now, get that new machine fired up. I guess I must live a pretty mundane life, this is the most exciting thing I've experienced for a long time.:)
Peloose Dec 9th, 08, 1:32 PM Rob, maybe you could make a trail from your house to mine. And, as long as you're here, you do my driveway.:D
webfoot Dec 9th, 08, 1:34 PM If what they are calling for us this weekend heads your way, you can be prepared for some more!

Believe it or not it was by choice! :D Out doing some "grocery shopping" for the freezer. Woke before the alarm at 5am on Sunday, drove for over an hour, and walked about 3/4 mile to the treestand.
Now I'm restless to get up north to go snowmobiling! They've got a ton of snow in the northern part of the state (and looking for another foot with this system)and the trails opened up back on Dec 1st. Nothing like zipping down the trails for a couple hundred miles!! :D
Must be a northern thing I guess ;)
quikss Dec 9th, 08, 4:00 PM I'm about 45 min west of Rob and we only got 6" max. The weathermen sure made a big deal out of nothing on this one. I have a 5 horsepower craftsman snowblower and a 10 hp toro, didn't even need the toro today, the incredibly under powered craftsman did this little bit of snow.
