OK where do i start. I bought my car back in july. First thing we did was give it a tune up and got it running real good. The body was shady and I took it in for new quarters and a bunch of other stuff. I gave it a frame off resto and its all back together. now the gas tank has been off for god knows how long and i just got it back on. There was about 1 gallon i would say of gas in it. Which is as old as back from July. probably older. so i started her up and she runs like crap. when it sits there in idle it has like a spitting backfire. Also the dstributor moves its not tightened down. IT has points? Can anyone tell me where to start. It has all new points, cap, plugs, wires, coil, rotor.

If you have a timing light I suggest you set the timing and tighten the dist. down.

YOU NEED SOME FRESH GAS TO START WITH.

Make sure your plug wires are on the right plugs and in the correct order on the cap.

After the timing is set, you can adjust the carb if you need to.If it was me, I'd disconnect the fuel line up by the carb and pump as much of the bad gas out as I can without running it dry and refill w/fresh gas.If your not sure about that, then add a little fresh gas and drive it around the block if you can.
