A friend of mine is painting his Chevelle (again) with Dupont Chromabase and had a few trouble spots he had to sand and recoat. The entire car is in basecoat only and it's been over 24 hr (max window to clear per Dupont), more like 80 hrs. He's planning to put another light coat of base over the entire car, per Dupont, before clearing. The question is: does the base coat on it that's about 80 hr old need to be scuffed or sanded before more base is added?

Dupont recommends sanding with 400 grit under their ChromaBase (http://pc.dupont.com/dpc/en/US/html/visitor/common/pdfs/b/product/dr/ChromaSystem/H-19317_ChromaBaseBC.pdf) base coat. After 24 hours, I would do the same to the base coat before re-coating. Peeling paint sucks.
