Probably a bad ground in one of the rear bulbs/sockets.

I agree with Dean. Definately bad grounds.

Sounds like the flasher fuse needs replaced. It is the big circular fuse located on the fuse box underthe dash.

sounds like you have a bad ground connection at one of your rear lamps and the brake lights are trying to find a ground through your t/s wires

In addition to checking the grounds at the rear lights, make sure you have the correct bulbs in the taillamp sockets. For some reason, people often put the single filament 1156 bulb in instead of the 1157 dual filament bulb, even though it really doesn't fit correctly.

BOTH turnsignal indicators on the dash light up with the brakes applied???

BOTH turnsignals don't work properly???

I just dealt with that on a newer vehicle owned by a friend.

TURN OFF the emergency flashers with the knob on the side of the steering column. You probably bumped it with your knee getting in/out of the vehicle.

Then fix the emergency flashers so they flash properly.
