ok...heres the story. i have a 69 chevelle with a 350 with HEI. i got an electric fan for it and when i first put it on i ran the power through where the ignition gets its power on the fuse box, but when i went to turn the car off it wouldnt shut off until the fan stopped spinning. so i put it straight off the battery with a toggle switch. it then started to act strange. at idle sometimes it would idle high then misfire when i gave it gas, and sometimes it would idle low then misfire a lot and die. i replaced the ignition module and it still did it. then i put the old fan back on and it still did it. ive got it now to where it only seems to "bog" a little bit when im cruising, let up on the gas, then slowly give it more gas. im stumped now. could it be my vacuum advance? i need help.

Just a thought, but did you have to install a larger fuse in your fuse box when you installed your fan?If you did you may have overheated the fuse contacts and they no longer hold your ignition fuse properly.I would check the fuse contacts and check voltage to see if it's the same on both sides of the fuse.Hope this helps,Jerry

It ran on until fan stopped because fan was acting as a generator. Try another coil as your sounds weak.

i have tested almost everything i can think of in the ignition system. when i first hooked the fan up to the coil power wire on the fuse box, could that have messed something up on my fuse box? also, i got a new external voltage regulator and alternator because the alternator was not charging. when i hooked them up the problem was still there and the regulator bagan to smoke. im wondering if somewhere in my ignition from the fuse box all the way through the whole system if there is a ground...please help.
