Hi! I´ve installed Global West front upper control arms and Hotchkis springs (1" drop) in my 71, and left the original lower control arms with its new original balljoints and bushings. Now, front suspension looks high and both tires have too much negative camber without any shims.
You can see the spindle currently used here: http://www.chevelleven.com/images/Chassis/Chassis022.jpg

And how the front end looks, here: http://www.chevelleven.com/carrocería.htm (After I moved the car for towing it home, it looks worse)

Thanks for your replies!

Is the engine in the car? It looks like it's sitting very high, which would cause the negative camber issues. Get all the weight on the front of the car so it's down to its ride height, and it should be pretty close. :)

If the engine is in it, and it's still sitting that high, it could be the lower A-arm bushings binding from being tightened down with the arms hanging. Try loosening the lower A-arm bolts, and bounce the car a few times, then re-tighten the bolts with the weight of the car on the wheels.

Make sure the springs are properly seated in the spring pockets. If they are turned the front end will sit high.

As stated above, the inner A-arm bushings should not be tightened up until the full weight is on the car. Upper and lower.

I thought the main selling point for using aftermarket controls arms was changing out the spindles to a 'F' or 'B' body. I didn't think you could use your factory 'A' body spindles.

check out the rear bumper guards...............Super on one and I'll guess Sport on the other. Never have seen those

Thanks a lot for your help guys! Well, anyone could tell me what type of spindles is that in the picture? It uses an 11 inch disc, but I still don´t know if it´s a tall or short spindle.

About the rear bumper guards: Both say "Super", and they aren´t original parts and were made by an old venezuelan factory called "Super Topes" (Topes=Bumpers). I´ve drop off them already, and I´ll give them to a retired 87 years old MD who bought his ´72 brand new for 26,000 Bs. (6,046.51 US$) that year, whose rear bumper needs them to be replaced!.

Thanks again for your help, I´ll wait a little to gather a few more suggestions and put in practice your ideas. I´ll keep you noticed about the results.

Greetings from Venezuela!

Those are original "short" spindles. If you have Global West's arms for "tall" spindles, that would also cause the problem. I know they make both types (for short or tall) so you may have the wrong arms for your spindle.

Hey brother your car looks sick. Good luck on the project. I'm glad to see such attention to detail on these cars in other countries.

Hey, does Chavez really hate America that much?

Lol!!!!!!!!! Thanks for your reply brother! I´ll do my best to keep a good work on my project, and to answer your question, too! So here it goes: He says foolish thinks about America, but signs contracts with Chevron, and even the vegetable oil for our meals comes from Georgia, USA! Talks so much, does nothing!. Venezuelans and Americans share so many things in common and that can not be eliminated by just one guy full of hate. The important fact is if venezuelan people hates America, and the answer is: Never! By the way, don´t miss the chance to taste an "arepa" someday! Bye!
